Fabric stores in Sandy, Utah
Four shops, two of them a two-minute walk apart on historic Main Street — Sandy is probably the easiest place in Utah to visit several quilt shops in one afternoon without ever moving your car.

Sandy's little quilting district
Sandy is the easiest quilting afternoon in Utah, and the reason is geography. Quilt Etc. sits at 11 East Main Street and Quilts on the Corner at 208 East Main — two blocks apart, on the same historic street, both long-established and both worth your time. Park once and you can visit them on foot.
That pairing is genuinely useful rather than just convenient, because the two shops don’t overlap much. Quilt Etc. is the deep-inventory stop, with a flannel wall people drive across the valley for. Quilts on the Corner is where you go for 108-inch wide backing and, if you’re in the market, longarm machines. Between them you can usually finish a project’s shopping list in one go.
A few minutes away, Heartfelt is a different animal altogether — the largest independent craft store in the state, where quilting shares the building with an enormous scrapbooking department. It also keeps the latest hours of any shop in the valley, open until seven most weeknights, which makes it the rescue option when you need something after work. My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe rounds things out as a machine and education center with a growing fabric selection.
Making a day of it
Historic Sandy’s Main Street is a pleasant place to potter about between shops, and there’s plenty nearby for lunch. If you’re coming from out of town, the mountains are right there — Little Cottonwood Canyon is about ten minutes east, so a morning of fabric and an afternoon drive up to Alta pairs beautifully in either season.
Most shops here close on Sunday, and apart from Heartfelt, most are done by five or six. A morning start gives you the most comfortable pace.
Nearby
Sandy sits in the middle of the valley’s densest cluster of shops. Draper, Murray, Riverton and West Jordan are all a short drive away — see everything in Salt Lake County if you’re planning a bigger loop.
