Quilts on the Corner

Of all the shops in the valley, Quilts on the Corner may have the most devoted following — several hundred reviews, and very nearly all of them five stars. That kind of consistency usually comes down to people rather than inventory, and the reviews bear it out: the thing customers mention most is walking in with a vague problem they can’t quite articulate and walking out with exactly the right thing.

The practical reason to make the trip is backing. Quilts on the Corner deliberately stocks 108-inch wide fabric, which spares you piecing a back for a larger quilt — and by most accounts they carry the best selection of it in Salt Lake. If you’ve ever seamed a backing at eleven at night and sworn never again, this is the shop that solves it.

They’re also a longarm dealer, and they include several days of training when you buy a machine, which takes some of the terror out of that particular purchase. Classes run regularly, and there’s a knitting side to the shop too — the sister store, Yarn on the Corner, is right next door at 212 E Main.
