Fabric stores in Logan, Utah
Four shops that barely overlap — a 1958 institution, a designer's handwork boutique, a family shop that doubles as a community hub, and the valley's repair bench. Plus a guild that meets every second Tuesday.

Logan and the Cache Valley quilting scene
Logan is a rewarding stop precisely because its four shops don’t compete with each other. Between them they cover almost everything, and you’d struggle to call any one of them a substitute for another.
Stylish Fabrics is the anchor — trading on Main Street since 1958, with thousands of bolts, a Bernina dealership, and around forty finished quilts hanging up for inspiration. My Girlfriend’s Quilt Shoppe is the community end of things, family-run since 2011, hosting quilt displays and talks alongside a busy class schedule.
Then there’s Huckleberry Moose, which is quite unlike the others — a designer’s shop built around hand applique, embroidery and cross-stitch, with Valdani threads and wool you won’t easily find elsewhere in northern Utah. And Wimmer’s on North Main is the practical corner: sewing machine and vacuum repair, the place to take a machine that has started misbehaving.
The guild
Cache Valley’s Needles and Friends quilt guild is an easy way in if you’re new to the area. They meet the second Tuesday of the month at ten in the morning at the Hyde Park City Building, with a workshop on the fourth Tuesday — show and share, round robins, friendship blocks, and a charity quilt on the go. Members range from their twenties to their eighties, which tells you something about how welcoming it is.
Making a day of it
Everything here is close together, and Logan itself is a pleasant place to spend a day — a historic Main Street, the Utah State campus above town, and Logan Canyon opening east toward Bear Lake if you fancy a drive afterwards.
Worth adding to the trip: ADORNit is a few minutes north in Hyde Park, the same village where the guild meets. See everything in Cache County if you’re planning a fuller loop.
Local guilds
Often the quickest way to meet other quilters — and to hear about retreats and workshops that never get advertised.
