Utah Valley Quilt Guild

Founded in 1982 and going strong forty years on — monthly meetings in Orem, a July Quilt Fair in a Wallsburg barn, an annual museum show, and a genuinely large amount of charity sewing.

About Utah Valley Quilt Guild

The Utah Valley Quilt Guild was established in 1982 to promote quilting through education, sociability and service, and forty years on it’s still doing all three. Meetings are monthly at the Orem Senior Friendship Center.

The scale is worth noting — a service day in early 2026 drew 98 members, a record for the guild. Charity work is a large part of what they do: quilts for at-risk babies, burp cloths, soft toys, and more than seventy-five quilts donated to the Festival of Trees.

There’s a lot on the calendar beyond the monthly meeting. The July Quilt Fair is held at the Red Barn in Wallsburg, and the guild mounts an annual show at the Springville Museum of Art. There are retreats in spring and fall — the fall one at Zermatt — plus visiting instructors for workshops and monthly challenges with prizes.

Two practical benefits that don’t get advertised much: the guild keeps a library, and members can borrow equipment. There are also smaller “bees” — little groups within the guild — which tend to be where friendships actually form.

Utah County has the best cluster of fabric shops in the state outside Salt Lake. See Orem, Provo and American Fork, or the whole Utah County list.
