The Fabric Mill

The Fabric Mill is one of the bigger fabric shops in Utah County, and the range is what people come for: cotton and designer cotton, a substantial minky selection, flannels, fleece, and bamboo batting alongside the usual quilting supplies.

The detail worth knowing is the novelty prints. Most quilt shops stock beautifully for florals and reproduction lines and rather thinly for everything else, which is frustrating if you’re making something for a small boy, a fisherman, or anyone whose taste runs to dinosaurs. The Fabric Mill carries considerably more in that direction than is typical, and it’s the reason a lot of people make the trip.

Shoppers speak warmly about the staff — patient, and inclined to actually help you hunt rather than gesture at an aisle. The one consistent caveat in reviews is price: this is not the cheapest fabric in the valley. The quality is high, and the shop runs sales and sends out coupons periodically, so it’s worth getting on the mailing list if you’re planning something large.
