Dave's Bernina

Dave Borget opened this shop in Provo in 1960, and his sons run the business now across two locations — this one and the southern Utah shop in St. George. Somewhere in those six decades they became the top-ranked Bernina dealer in the country, which is a remarkable thing for a family business in Utah Valley.

Machines are the heart of it, but the repair bench is the reason to keep the address whatever you sew on. They’ll take any make and model, not only Bernina, and turnaround generally runs three to five business days. Reviewers mention work coming back early more often than late, and technicians willing to explain what actually failed rather than simply handing it back.

There’s fabric here too, and classes run several times a week — worth considering if you’re weighing up a machine and would rather spend a few hours on one before deciding.

Check the address. The Provo shop is on 550 West now; a good many directories still list the old Center Street location.
