Editorial and verification policy
We built this directory to help Utah quilters make real plans. Our editorial team checks the practical details, distinguishes verified facts from business claims, and makes it easy for shops and visitors to send corrections.
What we include
We list independent Utah businesses with a physical location that serves fabric shoppers, quilters, or sewists. We may also include sewing-machine dealers and repair shops when they provide a useful local service. We do not list large national craft chains as Utah quilt shops.
How we verify listings
We check addresses, phone numbers, hours, services, and official websites against the business's own website or another first-party channel. We record the month and year of the latest check on every store page and link readers to the shop's official website whenever one is available.
We also tell readers when a detail remains uncertain or when current information is difficult to confirm. Because hours, inventory, classes, and services can change quickly, we encourage visitors to contact a business before making a long drive.
How we write descriptions
We treat contact details, hours, and documented services as facts that require a source. We write store descriptions from publicly available information and may summarize recurring themes in customer feedback when they provide useful context.
We do not treat one review as representative, and we avoid unsupported superlatives. When a statement comes from a shop's own marketing, we identify it as the business's claim instead of presenting it as something our team independently measured.
How we stay independent
We do not charge shops to appear in the directory, sell higher positions, or ask businesses to approve editorial copy before publication. If we ever introduce sponsorships or affiliate relationships, we will disclose them clearly where they appear.
How we use automation
We may use automated tools to identify inconsistencies, check site structure, or prepare draft updates. We do not treat automation as evidence. Before we publish a factual change, we review it against an appropriate source.
How we handle corrections and removals
We welcome corrections from owners, employees, guild members, and visitors. When we confirm that a store has closed, we remove it from the active directory. We keep unverified guild pages out of search indexes until we can confirm current details.
Store owners and authorized representatives can use the verification form linked from each store profile. Guild officers, organizers, representatives, and active members can use the equivalent form on guild profiles. We review submissions before publishing them and may request supporting first-party information. Confirming a profile does not give a business or guild control over our editorial descriptions or placement in the directory.
If you find an error or know about a change, send our editorial team a correction or email [email protected].
