Rea's Fabrics

Rea’s Fabrics has been a family business on 3775 South in Roy since around 1987, and it’s worth understanding what it is before you drive over — because it isn’t a quilt shop.

The focus is flannel and minky. Reviewers looking for standard quilting cottons sometimes come away disappointed, which is less a criticism of the shop than a mismatch of expectations: this is where you go for soft goods. They make finished blankets and bibs, and they do hemstitching — the decorative edge finish for receiving blankets and baby quilts, which almost nobody offers any more. If you’ve been trying to find someone locally who still does it, this is your shop.

That specialty makes it genuinely useful for anyone sewing for a new baby, and largely beside the point if you’re piecing a queen-size top.

Hours are unusual, so check before you go: closed Monday and Sunday, open Tuesday to Thursday until seven, Friday until five, and Saturday only until three.
