Quilting in Heber Valley
Heber City sits in a green valley between Park City and the Uinta backcountry, and Mountain MERMade on South Main is its fabric shop — the only one in Wasatch County.
It’s an unusual one. The shop fills a beautifully restored 1905 home, and in November 2025 the owners opened an overnight quilting retreat in the same building, with two sewing rooms fitted out for settling in over several days. The name is a play on the idea behind it: Mental Emotional Release meeting handmade.
This is a curated boutique rather than a warehouse, so it’s the place for something you haven’t seen everywhere else rather than for bulk yardage.
Making a day of it
Heber Valley is lovely in its own right — the Heber Valley Railroad runs from town, Deer Creek Reservoir is minutes away, and Midway with its Swiss-styled main street is just across the valley. If you’re up for skiing or hiking around Park City, this folds neatly into the weekend.
